Hi everyone, today I’m sharing details on a recent 3D print for D&D for a sewer entrance marker! This model was designed by dutchmogul on Thingiverse.

The model for the sewer entrance is a really nice and quick print.

Filament

Atomic Filament Starlight Gray PLA

I printed the sewer entrance markers with Atomic Filament’s Starlight Gray PLA. I used a dark gray filament to speed up the paint job as I was able to skip the priming step.

Painting

Acrylic craft paints used to paint the sewer entrance marker

Tools and Supplies for Painting

  • A small paint brush
  • Cheap medium-sized brush for the dry brushing
  • Dark Forest Green #02096 (Delta Ceramcoat)
  • Drizzle Grey #02452 (Delta Ceramcoat)
  • Bamboo #04031 (Delta Ceramcoat)
  • Platinum #02653 (Delta Ceramcoat)

As far as acrylic craft paints go, Delta Ceramcoat is by far my favorite brand. It’s not as runny as some of the other acrylic craft paints out there and it coats pretty well.

You can find them at craft stores and I’ve noticed my local Target carries the brand.

Painting Steps

My paint job for the sewer entrance markers was super basic:

  • Black wash
  • Dry brush with a light gray acrylic craft paint
  • Dry brush with a beige acrylic craft paint (I wanted it to look a little dirty)
  • Filled the area between the sewer grates with a dark green acrylic craft paint
  • Painted the sewer grates with a metallic silver acrylic craft paint

3D Printed Sewer Entrance Marker

I printed and painted the sewer markers a couple hours before the D&D session for which my DM requested markers for. We didn’t use them, but they will be around for the next time our adventurers may encounter them.
