Cardboard Bits’ Most Anticipated Games of Gen Con 2018

July 23, 2018 by Ashley

Gen Con 2018 is just under two weeks away. This will be my 7th year attending the convention and I’m excited to return to one of my favorite happy places. Here are a few of my most anticipated games of the convention (order not relevant):

  1. Ice Cool 2 from Brain Games
    • I love dexterity games and I hear great things about Ice Cool. I haven’t played the original before but I plan on changing that this year at the convention.
  2. Dragon’s Breath from HABA
    • This one is for my son. He loves board games and dragons. This one is a dexterity game so that’s plus one from me too.
  3. Cartooner from Japanime Games
    • This game looks intriguing. It combines story telling with drawing. I’m not sure I’ll buy it, but I definitely plan on checking it out.
  4. Exit: The Game – Dead Man on Orient Express and The Sunken Treasure from KOSMOS
    • I really enjoy the escape room style board games. I have several of the previous versions and look forward to picking up a few more.
  5. Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game from Portal Games
    • I really enjoy story telling games and this one is right up my alley.
  6. Spy Club from Renegade Game Studios
    • Spy Club is game about a group of young detectives solving neighborhood mysteries. Again, games with deduction and story telling elements are right up my alley.
  7. KOI from Smirk & Laughter Games
    • KOI is a movement programming game with beautiful artwork.
